According to Charaka Samhita, eye strain from excessive screen use is a form of "Atiyoga" (overuse) of the visual sense organ. The ancient text warns that excessive exposure to bright lights and strain damages the eyes and disturbs both Vata and Pitta doshas.
The remedy lies in practicing "Samyak Yoga" (proper use) of the senses - taking regular breaks, reducing blue light exposure, and nourishing the eyes with cooling therapies.
